As part of the this year’s Food & Drink Festival, Lobbs Farms Shop we will be conducting a free farm tour hosted by one of the three Lobb brothers. This will include a tractor and trailer ride over part of our farm where we will see our suckler cows with their calves and a flock of our polled Dorset sheep with a demonstration by one of our sheepdogs. Terry, Ian or Richard Lobb will be conducting the tour and we will be delighted to discuss with visitors how we care for the animals and manage our farm in an environmentally friendly way. The Lobbs are very proud of their farm which won the national Silver Lapwing trophy in 2008 and of their award winning Farm Shop which stocks produce from the farm, alongside a range of other quality Cornish food and drink.
The farm tour will leave Lobbs Farm Shop at 10:00hrs.and returns at around 12:00hrs.
Visitors attending the events will be able to access the restaurant at The Lost Gardens of Heligan for a tasty Roast Dinner. This will incorporate fresh seasonal Heligan produce, alongside home-reared meat from either the Lobb family’s farm or the Heligan Estate. The Roast Lunches will be priced at £8.95 each and will be served between 12pm and 2.30pm. The Heligan lunch menu also includes a vegetarian option as well as a mouth- watering selection of treats from the Heligan Bakery.
In the afternoon we propose to hold a meat cutting demonstration with Phil Northcott, our butchery manager, who will demonstrate his method of cutting a beef carcass into retail joints. Many people know their favourite cut of beef, but may not know how that joint is crafted out of the carcase. This will provide the opportunity to see a highly-skilled butcher at work. The free meat cutting demonstration will take place in the Heligan Countryside Barn adjacent to Lobbs Farm Shop at Heligan between 13:30 and 15:30hrs.
We would prefer for visitors to pre-book to secure a seat, but they can feel free to turn up on the day for either the morning or afternoon event or both.
