Sloe Gin

A very simple formula for making Sloe Gin. Using a standard wine bottle as an example, fill a third with Sloes, a third with golden caster sugar and top the remaining third up with gin. For the next week or so, shake the contents of the bottle a couple of times a day until the sugar is fully dissolved and the gin is turning a lovely rich red. Store in a dark place for at least two or three months. Ideally crack open at Christmas!

a tip: for a richer flavour, prick the sloes several times with a pin before bottling. A bit time consuming, but is worth it for the extra flavour
