St Ewe Country Fair

A date for your diary!

The St Ewe Country Fair runs from 10am to about 5pm on Sunday 21st August. There’s all sorts of things going on for all the family including a horticultural marquee, craft marquee, farmers’ market, sideshows (including welly wanging, coconut shy…), stalls, plants, car boot sale, refreshments (lunches and cream teas) and a bar.
There’ll be a kids’ marquee with punch and judy show, Stones and Bones a wonderful puppet show by Craig Johnson (find out more about it here), storytelling with Emma Tofi and various craft activities for children.  There is a fun dog show and in the main arena we have the Bugle Silver Band, flying birds of prey, shire horses, sheepdog demo, tug of war.  There is also morris dancing.

That should be enough to keep most people amused! So go along and support it, its a lovely day out.

almost spring?

The light was lovely this afternoon, a dank drizzle this morning gave way to hazy sunshine. The air is warmer and there was more than a hint of spring in the air. It may only be the first of February but the sun is noticably higher in the sky and the mornings and evenings a little lighter. We finally seem to be coming out of the other side of winter at last! Here’s a few photos from the permissive path on the farm today. Muddy but lovely, skeletal winter trees bathed in a warm hazy light.

above: a tree so big I had to take three photos and join them together to fit it all in!
